Dear Residents,
We are writing to inform you of upcoming water service line and curb stop upgrades that will be taking place in your neighbourhood. These improvements are part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the quality and reliability of essential services, ensuring that our
infrastructure remains efficient and up to modern standards.

What’s Changing?
The planned upgrades will involve replacing saddles, corp. stop, water service lines and curb
stops, and may also replace a part of your sanitary sewer line at your residence. This project may also include repairs to watermain if deemed necessary during inspection. These projects will help minimize disruptions, reduce potential service outages, and improve the
districts services to the residents. There will also be upgrades to hydrants and valves in these
neighbourhoods.

Timeline and Impact :
The work is scheduled to begin on or just after May the 1st and is expected to be completed by July 31st, 2026.
We understand that construction may cause some temporary inconvenience, such as noise, dust, and limited road access. Contractors will have a traffic control plan in place to avoid unwanted delays. It is estimated that each resident MAY experience a 1–3-hour water disruption while their new water line and curb stop are installed and connected. Contractors will be     communicating with residents on a regular basis so they will be informed ahead of the
time of disruption. Residents will also see the crews working their way down the street and have a good understanding of when it can be estimated that they will be next in line.
Contractors will also be communicating with residents a day or so ahead of when they will be
working on their service address. Please know that we will be doing everything possible to  minimize disruptions and keep residents informed.

Paving:
Paving and Shouldering is scheduled to begin Aug the 1st  and take approximately two weeks to complete weather permitting. Delays can occur with bad weather.

How You Can Stay Informed:
We will have two information session meetings for residents to attend to ask questions and learn more about the scope of the project. The first one will be April the 15th, 2026 from 5-6pm at the community hall movie theatre. The second one will be April the 17th, 2026 from 12-2pm at the District office.

If residents have any concerns during the project that are not outlined on this information
handout, or not discussed during the two information sessions, please contact Doug Lowther,
Director of Operations and Infrastructure dlowther@fortstjames.ca (250) 996-1472 between 7:00am and 3:30pm Monday to Friday.

We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding during this time as we work to improve the water and sewer systems in our community.

Thank you for your cooperation.
