With Gratitude
Mayor and Council acknowledge that the District of Fort St. James occupies land that since time immemorial has been home to Nak'azdli Whut'en.
We gratefully acknowledge that the District of Fort St. James is on the unceded traditional territory of the Nak'azdli Whut'en where we live, work and play.
Relationship Building
In the spirit of reconciliation, the Councils meet regularly to share a meal, discuss common problems, find solutions and celebrate successes. The District of Fort St. James is excited to work with Nak'azdli Whut'en Chief and Council on future projects within Our Community.
September 30th is the day Canada recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as well as honours survivors of residential schools. Here are some ways to mark the day:
- Wear Orange, and learn about how Orange Shirt Day came to be
- Learn about and commit to at lease one of the Calls to Action listed on the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation website
- Take part in a community event
- Read books like 21 Things You May Not Know About The Indian Act by Bob Joseph
