Fire Ban in Effect July 9, 2024 at 5:00pm

Due to continued hot, dry, and Extreme Fire Danger conditions in the region, a total fire ban will be implemented for all areas within the District of Fort St. James Municipality until such time conditions improve. This ban, which takes effect at 5:00 pm today, Tuesday July 9 2024, includes all previously banned fire inside the Prince George Fire Centre as well as campfires within the municipality.  

District of Fort St. James Fire Department Establishment, And Fire Safety Regulations Bylaw No. 1001, 2018 states the following:  

5.1.9    When the Fire Chief or an Officer designated by him deems it expedient to do so or where in his consideration hazardous fire conditions exist, he may order a total ban on open-air fires for such length of time as they may deem necessary within the Municipality. Hazardous fire conditions include, but is not limited to:    During other such conditions or period that the Fire Chief deems hazardous to life and property within the District of Fort St. James.  This action is being done to help minimize the risk of human caused fires in our municipality.
