  Please be aware that BC Hydro is working on the outage. This outage is unrelated to the Tsah Creek fire south of Fort St. James. The Joint EOC will post updates as they become available.

  From Fire Chief McVey:

  Good morning everyone as you know we have no hydro this morning.

  I spoke with a BC Hydro person on scene in Fort St. James. He stated they have and are currently investigating the issue and have found no damage to the infrastructure in the area of the Tsah Creek fire. They are continuing to investigate the situation and have no estimated time for restoring the power.

  I can confirm, because I drove it at 5:30 this morning the Hwy remains open as normal but I would recommend cautious travel and reduced speeds because of the heavy smoke in the area. The heavy smoke is due to no wind and NOT increased fire activity. Please refrain from traveling to the area just to see how things are going. This increased activity only adds to the danger for crews on scene.

  Notice from joint EOC – Nak’azdli Whut’en and District of Fort St. James: Please keep Highway 27 clear for emergency vehicles and travel only if you have to. Unnecessary traffic is causing a dangerous situation for fire and highway officials. This traffic could hinder efforts of emergency personnel.

  The District has opened the Community Centre ballroom for anyone who is having breathing or respiratory problems related to the wildfire smoke. 
  The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako has provided an airscrubber to help provide a clean air environment for anyone in need.

  Hours are currently set at 10 am to 2 pm, beginning Wednesday July 12th.

  Good afternoon sorry for the delay in the update. Our coordination call was moved to later because of the increased activity in the PG Fire zone.

  I have been assured if anything outside of the normal for this fire was to occur before the update, I would be contacted.

  Also we are working with Nak'azdli Whut'en, FSJ SAR, and others to ensure maps along with proper directions are available should they be needed as well as signage on the routes. Along with this comes ensuring through BCWS and Ministry of Forrests that the roads and evacuation routes are open and not effected by new fires.

  Thank you for your understanding. I will update as soon as I have new information on the fire.
