Animal Control & Conservation

Fort St. James is also home to our four legged friends. Sometimes these members of the community can get themselves into trouble. The Municipality works with an Animal Control Officer to help with this. If you see an off leash dog on its own, please call Bob and Monica Grill at 250-996-7449.

We share our community with wild animals. If you encounter animals such as bear, moose, cougar, beaver or other wild beast please contact the regional BC Conservation Officer.

The District of Fort St. James asks that residents pick all fruit trees, and refrain from leaving garbage out overnight. This is not the images we want to see if Fort St. James. Bears that are habituated to humans and garbage can become dangerous. Please do your part to avoid negative interactions with wildlife.
