First Annual Birthday Book Ceremony

In the 2021 Seniors Action Plan report, seniors in Fort St. James stated they feel unappreciated by the community. The Fort St. James Birthday Book is an idea borrowed from an initiative which started at the District of Sparwood, British Columbia. The Birthday Book will be stored in the safe as an historical document detailing brief stories honouring the contributions of those seniors who turn 80 years or older in the current year.

As outlined in the Bylaw, the signing event will take place during the last regular meeting of Council in November of the current year. Inductees will receive a birthday card signed by Mayor and Council, a Municipal pin and are invited to sign the Birthday Book.

2022 Honourees include John Peterson; Andy Kozley; Margaret-Ann Houghton; Pam Tencarre; Eve Dirnback; Louis Gauthier; Sarah Teegee; and Barbara Robin. Thank you for all your contributions to Fort St. James over the years!

Happy Birthday and best wishes for the Year to come!

—Mayor, Council and Staff of the District of Fort St. James.
