Position Overview
The District of Fort St. James is seeking a Full-Time Seasonal Visitor Information Centre Tourism Assistant. The successful candidate will report to the Economic Development Officer or their delegate. The Visitor Information Centre Tourism Assistant will assist the District by promoting tourism in the District of Fort St. James, Nak’azdli Whut’en and the surrounding area. The Tourism Assistant’s responsibilities include providing information and sharing knowledge about local amenities and experiences throughout Fort St. James and area. The Tourism Assistant will manage inventory of brochures and merchandise, will take payments and manage daily cash-out requirements. The Tourism Assistant will update approved social media posts, undergo tourism-related training and collect tourism data and statistics.
Qualifications
Applicants must be aged 16-30 and have a valid SIN number. Applicants must have excellent customer service skills, the ability to work independently and in a team environment, be outgoing, energetic and self-motivated, and have strong organizational and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check.
Additional Information
This is a full-time seasonal union position offering 35 hours of work per week, the hourly rate is $26.09 with 4% in lieu of vacation. The Visitor Information Centre Tourism Assistant will be based at the Fort St. James Visitor Information Centre located at 115 Douglas Avenue in Fort St. James.
