Fort St. James has a number of parks and playgrounds. We believe that parks are important to making the community what it is. Check out what outdoor activities are available in Fort St. James! If you love wilderness camping, hunting or trekking, our forests provide a vast expanse of wilderness for you to discover.

Year Round Events

Community groups organize many events throughout the year. There is always something to do and experience in the Fort.

With 30 trails totalling 22 kms and a vertical drop of 518 metres, Murray Ridge is a fantastic hill for skiers and boarders of all abilities. Open December through March. Full rental shop, cafe and lounge located in the lodge.
Situated on the south-west shore of beautiful Stuart Lake, Paarens Beach is a delightful small provincial park with an uncrowded campground, large beach and boat launch, it is an ideal base from which to explore the rich history and enjoy the multitude of recreational…
A fun place for families with small children, this fenced playground features a play structure, riding toys and picnic tables.
Multi-purpose fields for soccer and other sports are located at David Hoy School and Fort St. James Secondary School. These fields are used by schools as well as by community sports groups.
The main ball diamond has bleachers, concession and washrooms. A short walk away there are several other diamonds.
